Obsessed: Kate Moss through the eyes of her ex-boyfriend
Fashion photographer Mario Sorrenti, known for the simplicity and sensuality of his pictures, congratulated his ex-girlfriend Kate Moss on her birthday with a series of black and white photos on his Instagram. The photos were taken when they were on a Virgin Islands vacation together. It was this shooting that brought such rapid success to the young couple.
Having returned from the vacation to New York, 20-year-old Mario showed the shots of 18-year-old Kate Moss to the famous art director Fabien Baron, with whom he worked with Harper's Bazaar.
Fabien was impressed and offered to show them to Calvin Klein as a perfect obsession story for his perfume. Soon, the couple returned to the islands to recreate the images and shoot the legendary CK Obsession 1993 advertising campaign at the request of the designer.

The reinvention of the iconic fragrance was held in 2017 under the direction of Raf Simons, who at the time served as a creative director for Calvin Klein. Having researched the archives and reimagined the visual heritage of the fashion house, he breathed new life into the fragrance, transforming Obsession into Obsessed. The never-before-seen photos of that very 1993 shooting were used for the fragnance’s advertising campaign.

In his interview for AnOther magazine, Mario Sorrenti said:
”I think we both influenced each other quite a bit. She had incredible style and I had a lot of knowledge about art and photography. I like to think that we inspired each other. We are still close friends, and have worked together countless times over the past 25 years.”
